The FbF mobileOne is a portable biometric fingerprint collection accessory specially designed for the iPod touch (2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations). The mobileOne docks with the iPod touch using a secure yet removable cradle or sleeve allowing the iPod to be docked or undocked rapidly and easily. The mobileOne connects to and securely communicates with the iPod through the Apple 30 pin connector.

Constructed of durable ABS plastics and weighing in at just 0.4 pounds when docked and ready to operate, the mobileOne is designed for the ultimate in portability. The device sports a smooth low profile making it possible to carry the unit (docked with the iPod touch) in a back pocket or cargo pocket easily. When it comes to power, the mobileOne unit is not found lacking. The unit is equipped with a 1200 mAh rechargeable Lithium Ion internal battery. This allows the device to run for 9 hours or more on battery power in scanning mode. The device also may be recharged "on the fly" through the USB mini port located on the bottom of the unit making it possilbe to operate the device continuously if a 5V power supply is available. The mobileOne neither provides power to nor draws power from the iPod touch. Recharging the device from a totally drained battery takes approximately 4 hours when connected to a standard 5V USB power source such as a desktop or laptop USB port. The device comes with a recharging cable included.

In order to comply with the demands of standards based biometric applications, the mobileOne comes equipped with a FIPS 201/PIV compliant fingerprint sensor from AuthenTec. The built in fingerprint sensor provides a full 256 bit grayscale, 508 dpi image suitable for the most demanding 1:N identification challenges. Fingerprint capture, quality check and image transfer to the iPod takes approximately 700 milliseconds from the time a finger is placed on the sensor surface. A full set of ten PIV compliant fingerprint images can be collected within approximately 25 seconds for an experienced user. By using the built in multi-megapixel camera on the iPod Touch, in combination with the mobileOne's fingerprint sensor, it is possible to capture all ten fingerprints plus a full set of 5 facial images (90, 45, 0, 45, 90) in less than 1 minute.
