VeriFinger 6.0 SDK for fingerprint recognition and VeriLook 3.2 SDK for facial recognition are now available. The new versions support development of Web-based applications, live face detection and incorporate MegaMatcher core algorithms for more reliable biometric identification.
Vilnius, Lithuania – April 14, 2008
– Neurotechnology (formerly Neurotechnologija), a provider of
high-precision biometric identification technologies, today announced
the availability of two new biometric software development kits:
VeriFinger 6.0 SDK for fingerprint recognition and VeriLook 3.2 SDK for
facial recognition applications. Both versions incorporate the powerful
core matching algorithms from Neurotechnology's MegaMatcher 2.0
multi-biometric SDK .VeriFinger 6.0 and VeriLook 3.2 enable the
development of fast, reliable and cost-effective biometric
identification systems for Windows, Linux and Mac OSX platforms. Both
SDKs also now contain all the necessary technology for the development
of Web-based biometric applications, including programming samples,
tutorials and Web-intended concurrent licensing options. VeriFinger 6.0
and VeriLook 3.2 are fully compatible with MegaMatcher 2.0, both at the
template and API levels.
"Many of our customers want to
implement Web-based applications such as biometric signature or website
logon, secure internet banking options or similar-face searches on
social networking websites. Other customers are developing stand-alone
PC applications that support access control, time and attendance or
computer security," said Algimantas Malickas, CEO of Neurotechnology.
"These
customers are looking for the high level of reliability provided by
MegaMatcher, but they do not want or need to invest in a large-scale
AFIS or multi-biometric system. With the release of VeriFinger 6.0 and
VeriLook 3.2 we can offer our customers the functionality of
MegaMatcher's core matching algorithms in our competitively priced,
single-biometric SDKs."
VeriFinger 6.0
provides both 1:1 verification and fast 1:many matching modes with
enhanced fingerprint recognition reliability using the core AFIS
matching engine from MegaMatcher. The VeriFinger 6.0 SDK supports up to
40 different scanners, can be used with different programming languages
and database engines and allows for easy integration with existing
security systems. The VeriFinger 6.0 Extended SDK contains a
ready-to-use fingerprint matching server for Web-based or network
applications.
New features in VeriLook 3.2 include live
face detection technology, which is especially useful for Web-based
applications, and multiple face template functionality, which increases
recognition reliability by enabling a face template to be formed from
multiple different images (such as frontal, turned head, and with or
without a smile). Using a standard Webcam or security camera, VeriLook
3.2 can detect multiple faces in a single frame and process all of them
simultaneously. The VeriLook 3.2 algorithm offers matching speeds of up
to 100,000 faces per second. As with VeriFinger, VeriLook 3.2 supports
a wide variety of programming languages and databases. The VeriLook 3.2
Extended SDK will also be released, with ready-to-use server technology
for the development of Web-based or network applications.
With the release of VeriFinger 6.0 and
VeriLook 3.2, Neurotechnology is offering new licensing options.
Instead of the common core algorithm license offered with previous
versions, VeriFinger and VeriLook will now have separate matcher and
extractor licenses. This provides a more cost-effective option for
customers who want to develop less expensive Web-based applications
that only require one matcher license for the server, but multiple
extractor licenses. An additional option now available is concurrent
network licensing. This allows unlimited client component installation,
but limits simultaneously running instances to the number of concurrent
licenses obtained.
About Neurotechnology
Neurotechnology is a provider of high-precision biometric fingerprint
and face identification algorithms, object recognition and software
development products. More than 1900 system integrators, security
companies and hardware providers integrate Neurotechnology's algorithms
and software development technologies into their own products, with
millions of customer installations worldwide.
Neurotechnology's identification algorithms
have consistently earned the highest honors in some of the industry's
most rigorous competitions, including the National Institute of
Standards & Technology (NIST)'s Fingerprint Vendor Technology
Evaluation (FpVTE) and the International Fingerprint Verification
Competitions (FVC).
Drawing from years of academic research in
the fields of neuroinformatics, image processing and pattern
recognition, Neurotechnology was founded in 1990 in Vilnius, Lithuania
under the name Neurotechnologija and released its first fingerprint
identification system in 1991. Since that time the company has released
more than 40 products and version upgrades for identification and
verification of objects and personal identity. On April 14, 2008 the
company announced an official name change to Neurotechnology. For more
