How Face Recognition Software Works
Face recognition systems work by using photos taken through web cameras, security cameras or even normal digital cameras. Once a face image is captured, certain unique characteristics of the face are “mapped” into a face template. The template is then stored in a database and used later by the system to compare against new images.
A good example might be a door access system that uses a camera for employee identification. Employee’s face templates would be pre-registered into the door controller system’s database. Then, when an employee approaches the door, their image is rapidly captured and compared to the database’s stored templates. When the match is made, the employee is automatically granted access.
Often times, enterprises will use a combination of biometric identification for added security. VeriLook technology, our PC-based face recognition system, is included in the Mega Matcher AFIS SDK, a multi-biometric SDK, which allows users to have both face and finger identification security systems working together. Face recognition software and a simple digital camera is all that is generally needed when applying FaceCell or VeriLook face identification for your company. VeriLook and FaceCell can be easily integrated to work with your existing web cams, PDA’s and security cameras.
