Fulcrum Biometrics FB80 Pro USB2.0 Fingerprint
Scanner combines FB80 USB2.0 Fingerprint Scanner and an ISO7816 smart card
reader into one device.
The FB82 uses advanced CMOS sensor technology and
precise optical system to deliver high quality fingerprint images. The FB82 Pro can capture an Un-distorted raw
fingerprint image from the scanner into the PC in ~100ms which makes it an
excellent fit for customers doing both 1:1 and high speed 1:N matching. The smart card reader in FS82 can handle any
ISO7816 compatible smart card so it can also be used as a
standalone smart card reader.
Unlike other popular optical scanners that use
inexpensive plastic lenses or vulnerable silicon padded lenses, the FB82 Pro
finger scanning window is a crown glass with a thickness of 14mm. This makes
the scanner much more reliable and robust even as compared to any semiconductor
type fingerprint sensors.
The FB82 Pro employs advanced imaging technology
for the most reliable finger scans.
Finger Illumination is done via 4 infra-red LEDs. During the finger scanning stage the FB80
uses automatic light intensity adjustments according to the scanned fingerprint’s
characteristics (wet, dry, blurred, etc) to optimized the quality of the
captured fingerprint image.
The scanner also employs a special electronic
circuit built into FS82 to do Live Finger Detection (LFD). That is, with appropriate
software in the PC, users can select this LFD feature so that only live finger’s
fingerprints will be scanned into PC. Fake
fingers made from silicone rubber, play-dough, etc. will be rejected.
