When Clarity Child Guidance Center rolled out a new electronic medical records (EMR) system, they chose the Biodentify biometric authentication solution from Fulcrum Biometrics to provide fast, easy and secure sytem login for their staff.

San Antonio, TX - December 09, 2015 - Fulcrum Biometrics, a leading international provider, distributor and integrator of biometric systems and devices, today announced that Clarity Child Guidance Center is now using the Biodentify biometric authentication solution to provide fast, easy and secure system login for their staff. As one of the nation's largest non-profit mental health treatment centers for children, with a staff of more than 150 healthcare professionals, Clarity needed a fast, easy and more secure way to log into their new electronic medical records (EMR) system. By replacing passwords with fingerprints for WIndows and EMR login, Biodentify is helping passwords with fingerpritns for WIndows and EMR login, Biodentify is helping Clarity enhance its HIPPA compliance and significantly reduce overhead costs by eliminating hundreds of hours of worker down time and help desk support associated with password resets.

"Routinely people were getting locked out of our system, and unlocking user accounts and resetting passwords was one of the top categories that generated our help desk tickets," said Chris Hooge, director of clinical informatics and technology at Clarity Child Guidance Center. "It took our IT organization about 15 minutes for every one of those lock-ours, including opening a ticket for each case, resetting passwords and documenting what was done. And that doesn't account for the care worker's down time. Now, with Biodentify, all they have to do is bring their fingerprint to work. It's easier for the staff and it saves hours of helpdesk time each week," Hooge added.

The rollout of the new EMR at Clarity underscored the organization’s need for a more streamlined and secure way to login to their computer systems. By providing one-touch biometric user identification at login, Biodentify provides Clarity with a much faster, more secure and user-friendly solution that ensures that the facility remains compliant with HIPAA and maintains accreditation with The Joint Commission, which reviews and certifies health care organizations and programs in the United States.

Biodentify® from Fulcrum Biometrics helps businesses and other organizations protect the people and information they care about by replacing passwords with a far more secure identifier—a fingerprint. With the single touch of a finger, Biodentify lets users quickly and securely sign in to computers, business applications and hosted websites, producing a safer and more efficient workplace.

“Clarity does an exceptional job of providing vital services for the health and well-being of our children here in Texas,” said Ken Nosker, president of Fulcrum Biometrics. “We’re pleased to provide products and services that are helping Clarity streamline their workflows while protecting the security of the children in their care.”

The Biodentify comprehensive security solution combines state-of-the-art biometric technologies, highly encrypted storage (suitable for HIPAA in healthcare and other highly regulated, secure environments) and single sign-on (SSO) capabilities. Biodentify is designed for Windows-based computing and includes hardware, a fingerprint recognition algorithm and application software. The SSO framework manages proof of identity to third-party applications and websites using a single set of secure fingerprint credentials.
