California Pawn and Secondhand Dealer System - CAPSS
In accordance with AB391, which was passed on August 17th, 2012, the new procedures for California Pawnbrokers (PBs) and Secondhand Dealers (SHDs) when reporting property transactions to their Local Law Enforcement Agencies were established. PBs and SHDs will be required to use a single, statewide, electronic reporting system, which the California Department of Justice (CalDOJ) is responsible for implementing. Learn more about CAPSS here.
The CAPSS will replace the existing manual paper processes and is anticipated to create efficiencies as well as eventually reduce costs associated with postage and storage of thousands of paper copies.
California PB's and SHD's may purchase the complete set of equipment and software listed in the CalDOL CAPSS Reference Configuration Guide here below. Additionally single components and optional components may be purchased singly as replacements or extras.
